Yesterday I realized that I've been on vacation for almost two weeks. Where did the time go? Furthermore, it's starting to sink in that there's a real deadline for all this Christmas knitting I've been doing. I'm a process knitter and keeping a deadline is difficult for me. So, what have I been doing for the last thirteen days? (Apart from futzing around, of course.)
The mistake rib scarf is finished, if I decide that it's long enough as it is. I've started another scarf, I've got one Fuzzyfoot half-finished (and waiting for a twin) and one kitty bed is waiting for some, uh, trimming. The bed is enormous and it will take a long time to dry. It's the middle of the night now, so pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. It's funny, no matter how early I start, I'm always late with Christmas gifts. And I've noticed the first symptoms of Christmas mania: just the other night I was thinking of how an overrated activity sleeping is. Next step will be an increase in the daily caffeine intake.
I'm glad to tell you that I inspired at least one person to do her Christmas cards, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who's in a desperate hurry to get everything done. Here's a card idea for the time-challenged.
The incredibly easy Christmas card
1. Buy Christmas themed stickers and a card with an opening (plus an envelope). I used cards with a window-like opening.
2. Put the greeting sticker into the front of the card.
3. Put a sticker inside. If you're in a real hurry, just sign the card now and send it away.
4. If not, add some ornaments like holly, stars etc.
And you're done. See? Easy!
And if I happen to have some free time on my hands (I wish!), I bought these...
...because I want to paint these cute wall plaques.
And here are some ideas for future cards. This firm knows how to keep their customers happy.
Yes, that's candy and a free Cupid stamp between the chicken and the penguins. And take a look at that knitting chicken! For some reason the postman delivered the stamps to my doorstep and I didn't have to go and see Dumb and Dumber. Yay!
Seeing as everyone's posting pictures of snow in their blogs, here's what it looks like in our backyard. Keep in mind that I live in Northern Europe.
The green, green grass of home... in December???
Tomorrow: Christmas gifts in various stages of completion.
Was that an addi that snapped? I would be highly upset.
I love the way your scarf is turning out! That's the Brooks Farm yarn, isn't it?
After I read your comment I sent an email to KR and asked if I could post the pattern for the cards. As I don't know where the original picture came from and I'm not an expert on copyright issues I wanted to make sure I don't do anything wrong. Let's see what they say.
And yes, it was an Addi. I wasn't happy about it, I can tell you. I bought another one today (not an Addi!) so I can finish the kitty bed.
The yarn I'm using for the scarf is Brooks Farm's Four Play yarn in the colourway Libby. I can't wait to get my hands on Ginger and Whimsey! And if I continue knitting at the current speed, I will have quite a few extra skeins after Christmas. Oh, perish the thought! Knit. Knit... Purl... Puuuuurlll... Hmm, would this be a good time to learn the throw method?
I got an unusual request today. Unusual in the sense that I don't like to pose for pictures, but I'll make an exception this time. So, if any of you have wondered just how wide that collar of Eris is, here's mine. SO was using my camera for the first time ever, he wasn't very keen to do it, I'm not sure if the camera angle is right for this purpose, I'm as photogenic as a well-stuffed albino turkey, babble babble yada yada etc. But I hope you get the general idea, Twig.
